Tehran is ready to resume nuclear discussions with the United States on condition that it is handled with "dignity" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has stated.

Abbas Araghchi declared exclusively dialogue was effective, and shared new appeals had originated from intermediaries to reopen talks with the US government. He said Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Tehran could not yet authorize the global atomic watchdog to access bombed nuclear sites for protective measures.

Walking a Complex Route

Araghchi is navigating a challenging course since Iran does not want be seen to be proceeding from a position of vulnerability, and he emphatically stated that Iran had arisen more resilient militarily and mentally from the Israeli-US attack on its nuclear sites in June.

He was addressing at a security conference in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to enrich uranium domestically that it will always maintain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the earlier negotiations.

Previous Negotiations Suddenly Ended

The earlier sessions of negotiations between the United States and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and bitter termination on 12 June when Israel, with US support, struck Iran's enrichment centers in a fortnight-long engagement that concluded with Donald Trump claiming the sites had been eliminated. Subsequently, European countries used their authority to reinstate international penalties, but Iran asserts they have not had a major impact.

Ideal Resolution Proposed

Tehran representatives stated they felt they had reached a "perfect agreement" to the nuclear fuel concern in earlier negotiations, when it was decided an local partnership with American involvement could enrich uranium. Each party would have been able to declare success since home-based processing would have continued and the US could be assured that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been decided in the talks that Washington's technical specialists could operate inside Iran, but that was a natural consequence of the cooperative offer. Diplomats asserted on multiple occasions they had secured an understanding with Washington's diplomat the US official only for the deal to fall apart due to "opponents in the US".

Existing Position

Iranian officials declared the partnership proposal was now withdrawn, but it seems highly likely the offer could be reintroduced in some form if discussions resume.

The American leader recently said he had been getting signals that Iran desired to restart talks, but privately Tehran representatives say they are not yet obtaining consistent overtures from Washington either explicitly or from key regional mediators, such as the Qatari government, Egypt, the Omani authorities and the Saudi kingdom. The Iranian foreign ministry has been accused of inactivity in the face of the US president's straightforward manner, but Tehran states negotiations is not part of a spectacle.

Political Standpoint

In his remarks to the gathering, designed to depict the US as a hegemonic power that misuses the notion of worldwide standards, Araghchi declared the 12-day war demonstrated the conflict could not be resolved by combat operations. He said the assaults started with a American requirement for an unconditional Iranian surrender and culminated with an absolute demand for a truce.

Iran is assured the opening assaults from Tel Aviv were carried out with complete American awareness and coordination, making faith hard to reestablish.

Araghchi stated: "It was not Iran that had abandoned diplomacy; it was America and the Western nations that had repeatedly attempted to dictate their demands during the discussions. Diplomacy can still be viable and stays the ultimate resolution to resolve disagreements, but its standards, rules and tenets must be respected."

"In case they speak to the nation of Iran with the approach of dignity and respect, they will receive a reply in the identical approach."

Restoration and Rebuilding

In what is described by Tehran representatives as the struggle of repair and recovery, the foreign minister said he was confident Iran's security strengths "are considerably enhanced than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Our entire military infrastructure have been rebuilt. We learned many lessons from this war; we have identified our internal vulnerabilities and the weaknesses of the opponent."

He added: "We managed to survive this war. Our enrichment knowledge, which they intended to eliminate, continues to exist. The sites and gear, if eliminated, will be reconstructed; what is important is the determination of the Iranian people and then the unity of the country that they aimed at, but were unable to shatter. The Iranian people have grown more powerful, more cohesive, and more backing of the leadership and the country in the face of this assault."
